| The Hawaii Foodbank Team woke up early on September
9, 2006 to start thier Hana Relay heat at 645A. Team Captain,
Louis Tomsic gave a safety brief to the runners and advised them
to warm up early because little time is given to warm up while
driving each of the relay runners to thier handoffs. |

 |
| Jonah Maiyo stretched as much as he could before
the hilly leg 13 but all the uphill had its effect as he slowed
some at the top of the hill. |
 |
 |
| Handoff 6 was missed while Steve Moreno was in the
restroom. Louis Tomsic ran in his place because of his closeness
to the handoff. While the 4 hour and 37 minute record was being
sought, this was the moment where the Hawaii Foodbank team let
its gaurd down and let the record get away. |
 |
 |
| Steve Moreno ran the next leg 8 but felt bad about
missing the handoff. Steve Immel shrugged his sholders on leg
9 and said "There is always next year." This is where
the momentum slowed and the Hawaii Foodbank finished in a time
of 4 hours 44 minutes and 41 seconds. By leg 9, the nomal Hawaii
Foodbank relay rotation was restored. |

| Who knows? Maybe some other team will take up the
challenge to break the record. |
